Dixie Fire Imperiled Crew 2021

A Forest Service recreation crew on the Payette National Forest in Idaho were working in the backcountry in the general area of the Dixie Fire, which was across the Salmon River from their location. Remote sensing indicated the fire may have spotted onto the same side of the river as the crew, endangering them. The decision was made to have them hike out, though the exact location or existence of the spot fire could not be immediately verified.
