Description:
At approximately 1710 hours on June 9, 2015 a near-miss involving a chainsaw occurred on the Dry Creek Incident on the Upper Colorado River Fire Management Unit north of De Beque, Colorado. After attempting to start the MS460 Stihl chainsaw, the BLM firefighter opened the gas cap and was sprayed with fuel on the mid-section of the body. The firefighter tossed the chainsaw on the ground. Moments later, the chainsaw was engulfed in fire. The chainsaw and its burned cap were both recovered. No injuries were sustained with this incident.
