    On July 7, 1989 at approximately 1427 hours, a vegetation fire was reported 5 miles south of Janesville in the Lassen/Modoc Ranger Unit. The following day, the fire behavior conditions were moderate, as the day progressed, however, fire activity increased and the behavior again became extreme. Three incidents occurred on July 8 where fire shelters were deployed.
