East Fork Fire Entrapment 2020

During initial attack of the East Fork Fire, Utah, a trail crew member, ICT3, and three engine crew members had their primary egress cut off when winds shifted down canyon, rapidly increasing fire behavior and starting spot fires downhill from their location. They sought refuge in the creek and ran through the black to avoid the flame front. A helicopter directed them through unburned fuel to a meadow uphill from the fire where they were extracted and taken to safety.
