Description:
This Safenet describes three separate incidents involving the same John Deer K550 dozer during the same initial attack efforts: a hydraulic line broke, low coolant alarms went off, then in the third incident, the alarms went off indicating low fuel pressure and the machine went into “limp mode.” All three incidents occurred while the dozer was actively engaged in initial attack suppression activities on the Flat Creek Fire, Chattahoochee-Oconee National Forest, Georgia. The first two incidents were able to be handled via in the field replacements/corrective actions; the third required a repair technician to be able to track the machine out and load onto the transport.
