Description:
On May 15, 2024, the Tofte Ranger District in the Superior National Forest implemented the Fry Prescribed Fire with good fire effects. Shortly after beginning the prescribed firing operations, spot fires were detected outside the unit boundaries. An escaped wildfire was declared, and local resources and air attack responded. Resources reported 100 percent containment by the evening of May 18. Approximately 137 acres outside the Rx unit were burned, and about 49 acres within the Rx fire unit.
