  • Description:

    A Type 6 engine assigned to the Garner Complex working on the Graves Fire was engaged in pump operations supporting a hose lay. The pump cavitated and as the operator was shutting the pump down, hot water and steam struck the crew member on the chest and abdomen. A paramedic responded and the crewmember was transported by ground ambulance to the hospital in Medford, Oregon. Upon evaluation, the crew member was flown to the Portland Legacy Hospital Burn Unit. The crew member received first and second degree burns. The Oregon Department of Forestry assigned a hospital liaison.
