Description:
William Rickards was killed when he was struck by a falling tree while working on the fireline on the Gila National Forest, New Mexico. According to reports, Rickards was hit by a limb which struck his metal helmet and knocked it off his head. Immediately afterwards he was struck by a falling pine tree. (This firefighter's name is sometimes incorrectly reported as William Rickard or Richards.)
