Description:
Martin Anderson was killed by a falling snag while assigned to the 8,000-acre Gleason Mountain Fire on the Kaniksu National Forest, Idaho. Fellow firefighters carried Anderson for six hours along mountain trails to get him to the hospital in Priest River, where he passed away. Anderson's death came four days after a similar fatal accident on this same fire when Larry Mazarokos, a Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) crewmember, was killed when he was struck by a falling limb on the Gleason Mountain Fire.
