Hamm Fire Hit by Tree Fatality 1987

David Erickson, an engine captain from the Klamath National Forest, was struck and killed by a tree on the Hamm Fire on the Stanislaus Complex on the Stanislaus National Forest. Media sources describe the accident sequence: Erickson was felling a tree in the Jaw Bone Ridge area when the tree struck another partially burned-out tree, which then fell and struck Erickson. Erickson was reportedly killed instantly.
