Description:
At approximately 0100 hours on June 20, 1987, a blowup occurred on Division C of the Haystack Fire, resulting in the deployment of 41 fire shelters. The amount of time spent in shelters varied from 5 to 30 minutes. Several individuals used their shelters as shields rather than getting in them. Duration of this blowup was less than five minutes. Immediately after the blowup, overhead initiated a count of people. No injuries were noted.
