Higgins Ridge Fire Medical Emergency Fatality 1961

Ralph T. McEvoy, timber management officer for the Nez Perce National Forest, Idaho, suffered an apparent heart attack while hiking off the Higgins Ridge Fire. McEvoy had been assisting the fire suppression efforts of the fire with mapping and records management. He was transported to Grangeville Hospital, where he remained until his death on August 31.
