Description:
On the Hirz Fire on the Shasta-Trinity National Forest, two contract firefighters assigned to Firestorm Crew 3 were hit by a boulder dislodged from a dozer operation above them. (The boulder was described as being the size of a mini-cooper vehicle.) An Air National Guard rescue helicopter, assigned to perform medevac duties, performed the hoist mission and flew both patients to the local trauma center. Approximately four hours later, both walked out of the trauma center under their own power.
