Description:
While engaged in line construction on the Horse Gulch Fire, Helena-Lewis and Clark National Forest, Montana, a sawyer on a handcrew lost control of their chainsaw/saw powerhead and the chain encountered his gloved hand as it came to a stop, resulting in cuts on thumb and finger. The sawyer was supported by EMTs as well as the incident Medical Unit Leader (MEDL) who asked sawyer to go to the hospital due to the loose skin that needed to be excised. The sawyer was driven to the hospital and was treated and released.
