Hubbard Creek Fire Medical Emergency Fatality 1933

    Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) crewmember Russell Eldredge suffered what was described as "intestinal paralysis" after ingesting cold water during a period of high exertion on the Hubbard Creek Fire west of Roseburg, Oregon. This fire was burning at the same time as, but was not related to, the fires in northwestern Oregon that are called by the general name "the Tillamook Burn." Further information regarding the death of Eldredge is not readily available.
