  • Description:

    During fire suppression efforts on Division Z of the Hunter Fire, a CAL FIRE Type 1 inmate fire crew was constructing direct fire line in steep terrain. The saw team was actively cutting thick brush when the sawyer struck the puller’s left arm with the chain saw. The puller sustained a traumatic injury to the left arm and bleeding control was immediately initiated by the fire crew captain and fire crew members. The inmate was transported by air ambulance to a local trauma center.
