  • Description:

On a prescribed fire on the Huron-Manistee NF, a firefighter topped off their drip torch using a jerry can that was missing a nozzle. While refueling the drip torch, a “copious” amount of torch mix spilled on the ground as well as on their lower right pant leg and boot. The crewmember used the torch for ignitions on the burn, and noticed that their right leg was on fire. They extinguished the fire using their gloved hands. The hospital determined the firefighter had sustained 2nd degree burns.
