Description:
On the Ikes Fire in Grand Canyon National Park, a U.S. Forest Service crewmember was showing signs of a heat-related injury and then deteriorated to the point of losing consciousness for a period. The firefighter was flown to the South Rim Helibase then taken by ground ambulance to a hospital in Flagstaff, Ariz. for further evaluation. The firefighter was treated for severe dehydration and released to light duty the following evening.
