Description:
Frank Zager, employed with a California Department of Forestry (now CAL FIRE) fire crew of 50 men, was struck by a falling tree limb and killed on a fire in Jackson Valley. Zager's son Donald was also on the fire at the time and moved his father's body away from the active fire area. The limb reportedly broke the elder Zager's neck and pelvis.
