  • Description:

    In October of 2017, the Moab-Monticello Ranger District was completing a prescribed fire in the Johnson Creek–Nizhoni Prescribed Burn Project Area. Shortly after burning operations ceased, two spot fires were discovered on the adjacent slope, outside of the project area. Attempts to suppress the spot fires that night and the next day were ultimately unsuccessful. The Johnson Ridge Wildfire was declared on October 13, 2017.
