Kisatchie National Forest Heat Illness 2024

A group of USFS firefighters were representing the USFS Fire Program, in full uniform, at a funeral for a State of Louisiana firefighter. During the outdoor phase of the ceremony, one of the USFS firefighter collapsed. An ambulance was called, and the employee was transported to the hospital. Employee was treated with IV fluids, testing was completed, and the employee was released at 19:00 on May 9, 2024, directed to rest, hydrate and return to work on Monday.
