Kneeland Prairie Fire Hit by Tree Fatality 1917

Andrew Erickson was one of a group of firefighters assigned to suppress a fire located east of Eureka, California. They had been on this fire several days when he was struck by a tree limb and killed. Erickson was reportedly on the fireline for multiple days when he had laid down to sleep at the base of a large tree. A limb from that tree fell while he was asleep, causing his fatal injury.
