Description:
On the morning of Tuesday, September 14, 2021, a Sequoia-Kings Canyon NP employee was headed from the Lodgepole area north of the fires to the ICP at park headquarters in the Ash Mountain area to help with logistics for the day. The employee unexpectedly encountered debris on the road that resulted in a flat tire. The employee realized she was surrounded by fire and radioed for assistance. A Strike Team Leader (STEN) and Trainee (STEN-t) responded to assist the employee and helped move the vehicle to a safe area.
