Kootenai National Forest Chainsaw Cut 2019

    A Fuels Crew Member was cutting slash and slipped on a wet rock on the Libby Ranger District, Kootenai National Forest. The chainsaw contacted the chaps and pulled the chaps away, exposing the Firefighter’s calf. The chainsaw then cut deep into the calf. The Firefighter was transported via ground ambulance to a hospital. Surgery was conducted to repair muscle tissue. The Firefighter was released the following day with an order to not put weight on the injured leg for two weeks.
