Description:
A crewmember on a hand crew suffered burn injuries while shielding their face from the heat of a hotspot/flare up on the Lake Fire, Los Padres National Forest, California. The crewmember was transported initially by ground ambulance to Cottage Hospital-Santa Barbara and then transported via ground ambulance to Grossman Burn Center-West Hills LA County. Burn injuries were estimated at 7% total body surface area (TBSA), and the crewmember was treated and released to rest in a hotel for several days. Follow-up with burn center was recommended.
