Description:
During ignition operations on the Laurel Creek Prescribed Fire, Daniel Boone National Forest, Kentucky, a firefighter was carrying a drip torch during lighting and spilled drip torch fuel on the left leg (back of calf area) which resulted in burning the employee. The employee walked out under their own power and was transported to and received initial treatment at the hospital in Somerset, Kentucky. The employee was then referred to the Burn Center at the University of Louisville Hospital, where they underwent successful skin graft surgery on their calf. The employee is recovering and doing well.
