Los Berros Fire Engine Rollover Fatality 1946

Edward Ordner, a firefighter with the California Department of Forestry (now CAL FIRE) was killed when the vehicle he was driving left the roadway and rolled over. Ordner was assigned to a fire in the Los Berros Canyon area in San Luis Obispo County initially reported at 1315 on September 16, the vehicle accident occurred at 2000 on September 17. Another firefighter on the truck was able to jump away from the vehicle as it went off the road, as he was riding in the open cab. The vehicle was described as a "hose truck."
