Description:
On August 7, 2023 on the Lost Horse Creek Fire in Alaska, a wildland firefighter sustained a serious burn injury caused by overheated water erupting from a Mark-3 pump he was operating. The injured firefighter was transported by ambulance off the line to the local hospital’s Emergency Department for evaluation and treatment of his partial thickness burn and referred to another medical center for a follow up evaluation the following day.
