Description:
On July 4th, 2023, 10 smokejumpers were hiking off a 2-acre fire in the Marble Mountain Wilderness, Klamath National Forest, California, when one of the crew members lost contact with the rest of the crew and suffered extreme dehydration and heat exhaustion. This resulted in an overnight effort to locate, stabilize, and treat the patient, finally ending with a hoist medevac by a CHP (California Highway Patrol) helicopter the following morning.
