Description:
Joe French, a Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) enrollee in Eugene, Oregon, was killed in a vehicle accident while en route to a fire on the Siuslaw National Forest near Coos Bay (known as Marshfield until 1945), Oregon. The truck in which French was riding left the roadway and drove into a canyon.
