Description:
The Martinez 3 Fire started on allotted land on the area of Torres Martinez Desert Cahuilla Indians on October 14, 2019. Resources responded to a wildfire burning in an area of heavy mulch. On October 17, 2019 the Bureau of Indian Affairs assumed command and continued suppression activity. On October 21, 2019, during suppression operations, a firefighter stepped in to an ash pit and received 2nd and 3rd degree circumferential burns to both legs below the knees. The injured firefighter was air lifted to the Arrowhead Burn Center in San Bernardino, California where they were treated and released later that evening.
