    Pilot Farrell Gale and firefighters Todd Harrison, Daniel Hase and Joe Bass with the Bureau of Land Management, died on July 11, 1980, when their Cessna U206 Super Skywagon aircraft crashed. The mission had been to drop supplies to firefighters on a 2-acre fire. The NTSB summary report indicated that the cargo was not rigged with its parachute properly and the parachute became snagged on the aircraft tail upon exit causing the plane to crash into an isolated peak of the Schell Creek Range.
