    On July 13, 2004, a firefighter on the Palomar Hand Crew from the Cleveland National Forest received a first-degree burn to the right side of his face and a small second-degree burn to his right elbow while assigned to the Mataguay Fire, located in Northeastern San Diego County on the California Department of Forestry's Monte Vista Ranger Unit.
