Several entrapments were documented on the Matilija Fire, a fast-moving fire on the Santa Barbara National Forest (Renamed Los Padres NF in 1936). The attached document summarizes four entrapments. The Matilija Fire went on to burn around 220,000 acres, and until 2003's Cedar Fire, it was the largest fire in California history. It is now among the 20 largest fires in CA history.
