    Jack McCloskey Boles, an 18-year-old soon-to-be senior at Flathead County High School in Kalispell, Montana, received a wound to the left leg from an ax while suppressing a fire in northern Montana on August 21, 1926. Boles was admitted to the hospital. On his seventh day in the hospital, Boles developed tetanus. He died the next day, on August 29. This young man may have been employed as a firefighter with the Flathead National Forest.
