Description:
Dennis Connor and Richard Ray, pilots of a C-119 Flying Boxcar air tanker, were killed when their aircraft crashed while on a retardant run on the Morongo #21 Fire on the Morongo Reservation north of Banning, California. One witness is quoted as having seen the tanker circle several times before losing control and crashing into terrain in a nose-down attitude. The cause of the crash is not immediately available.
