    Four California Department of Forestry (now CAL FIRE) firefighters were entrapped and suffered burn injuries in their fire engine on a fire on the north side of Mt. Hamilton near San Jose on August 18, 1952. A total of 325 firefighters including two California Youth Authority hand crews, 15 engines, eight dozers, and tankers contained the fire at 7000 acres that night. Two of the burned firefighters were admitted in critical condition to the hospital in Livermore, while the other two were treated and released.
