Description:
On July 22, 1982, at approximately 1450 hours, three California Department of Forestry (CDF) firefighters were overrun by a fire blow-up on the Mt. Murphy Fire near the community of Coloma, California. Limited Term Fire Captain Robert McAlpine and Firefighters Brian Merryweather and Jim Ellis all received minor burns with some second-degree burns on their arms, leg, and face. They were transported via helicopter to the hospital.
