Neches VFD Smoke Inhalation Medical Emergency Fatality 1993

Volunteer Firefighter William J. Grounds was extinguishing a pasture fire near a residence when he was overcome by smoke, followed by cardiac arrest before arrival of the fire department. His death certificate was amended to reflect the cause of death-smoke inhalation leading to cardiac arrest.
