Nez Perce-Clearwater NF Medical Emergency 2024

On the Nez Perce-Clearwater National Forest, a firefighter was refurbishing equipment from a recent fire assignment as part of post-incident rehab work. The firefighter was stung by wasps and experienced a severe allergic reaction, with symptoms including hives and difficulty breathing. Both an air ambulance and USFS helicopter with EMT were ordered due to the remote location. An Air ambulance flight nurse administered epinephrine, and the firefighter was flown to hospital in Lewiston, ID. The firefighter was treated in the ER and released later the evening of 8/2.
