Description:
A smokejumper from the North Cascades Smokejumping base suffered an injury during a practice jump. Based on the initial assessment of a broken femur, a USFS Short-Haul helicopter was requested to provide medevac support. The helicopter was able to land near the injury scene, and the injured smokejumper loaded into the helicopter and flown to the hospital in Wenatchee, WA. After diagnostics at the hospital, the injury was determined to be a “deep bruise” and the smokejumper was released.
