North Trask Fire Hit by Tree Fatality 1913

Joseph Stokes, employee of the Carlton Logging Company, was killed by a falling tree while fighting a fire on the North Fork of the Trask River in the coast range between Tillamook and Portland, Oregon. Stokes was part of a crew of 40 fighting the fire, when he was struck by a tree that also hit A. Brown, whose leg was broken. Stokes died within a few hours of the accident.
