Description:
A USFS engine in Montana responds to initial attack a fire burning in a Wildland-Urban Interface (WUI) setting. While engaging in suppression activity, a wind shift causes exposure of the engine crew to toxic smoke from burning structures. The crew seeks medical attention after they exhibit symptoms including irritated eyes, prolonged coughing and vomiting.
