Description:
Mike Lehman was reportedly found dead “on the job” while working for the USFS. He was the Snow Mountain Fire Management Officer and apparently stopped to check out a prescribed fire on the way back from a meeting in Prineville, Oregon. When he failed to return home, a search was started, and Lehman was found near his pickup in the forest and had apparently died of natural causes.
The above information is from the National Smokejumper Association; Lehman jumped in Cave Junction, Oregon in 1958-59 and 1961.
