    On April 27, 2007, at approximately 1015 hours, a Mesa Verde National Park employee was injured when diagnosing a malfunction on the operation of a terra torch. The terra torch was staged in preparation for a prescribed fire on the Moab District of the Manti-La Sal National Forest. The employee was stabilized by qualified emergency medical personnel and transported to the local hospital. The patient's right ring finger was injured, resulting in the amputation of that finger. Tendon damage also occurred in another finger.
