    On September 4. 1987, at approximately 0550 hours, a California Department of Forestry (CDF) Engine Strike Team from the San Diego Ranger Unit, led by its Fire Captain was involved in fire suppression activities on the Paper Fire in the Stanislaus National Forest. Blow-up conditions developed which resulted in crews taking refuge in the cabs of the engines and deploying shelters against the windows and windshield as added precaution against radiant heat. No injuries were noted. However, Fire Fighter I was treated for minor heat and smoke stress by medical unit personnel and released. There was no damage to engines.
