On September 20, 2006, a Bureau of Land Management water tender was involved in a single-vehicle rollover accident. The BLM driver and passenger were returning to the Apple Valley Fire Station traveling westbound on Highway 138. While attempting to negotiate a corner, the driver lost control of the vehicle. It entered the eastbound lane, turning over onto the driver's side. Both BLM personnel were ground transported to the Loma Linda Hospital via ambulance. The passenger was released at the hospital with no apparent injuries. For precautionary reasons, the driver was held overnight. The water tender sustained major damage and appears to be a total loss.
