Description:
David Castro, a contracted owner and driver of a water tender was killed when his vehicle rolled over while he responded to a Plumas National Forest fire on August 19, 1994. Castro received the order to drive his water tender to support the initial attack of a 20-acre fire in the Shute Mountain area near Brush Creek, California. While navigating the windy mountain road, his vehicle rolled on a corner and ejected Castro, leaving him critically injured and face down in water leaking from his tender. Other motorists rendered aid, but Castro was pronounced dead at the scene.
