    Civilian Conservation Corps (CCC) crewmember Doris Bennett was killed while cutting brush and undergrowth from the vicinity of his camp at Priest River (Camp F-164). The project was apparently a hazardous fuels reduction project in anticipation of the 1940 fire season. Bennett was hit by a falling snag and killed.
