    Luis Rodriguez was killed when he was hit by a tree on the Quail Creek Fire in Curry County, Oregon. Rodriguez was a member of a crew flown to the fire from the Snake River Valley in eastern Oregon. Another firefighter, Bernardo Garcia, was also struck by the tree and sustained a knee injury. The fire was contained July 16 at approximately 2,800 acres.
